accessing journal articles on cancer-related topics.
The Williamsburg Regional Library
provides a variety of cancer-related resources and services for adults and
children, including both circulating and reference books and audiovisual
materials.

- Now available
at home for WRL library card holders
- Ebscohost provides access to a
variety of full text databases including 1800 general periodicals.
The Health Source Plus database provides abstracts and indexing for
over 520 consumer health, nutrition and professional periodicals. Over
240 medical periodicals are covered in full text as well as nearly
1,000 health pamphlets. Also included is USP DI Volume II, Advice for
the Patient which provides patient-oriented drug information in lay
language and 17 health books published by the People's Medical
Society.

databases to find magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions,
directories, and information on a variety of cancer related topics,
including nutrition, drug information, herbal remedies, and
alternative or complementary treatments. Material contained in this
Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.

Library

- Bigchalk Library supplies
full-text articles from a variety of sources including popular
magazines, newspapers and broadcast transcripts. The Bigchalk help screen provides detailed information on how to
search, print, and save from the database.

- CancerLit
- Published by the National Cancer
Institute, CancerLit indexes and abstracts over 1.4 million articles
from over 4,000 journals and other sources. The full-text of the
articles are not available online; however, WRL patrons may request
copies of the articles through our Interlibrary
Loan(ILL) service.

to Internet Resources for Cancer: On-Line Journals and Bulletins
- This extensive list of online cancer
journals is maintained by the Department of Child Health at the
University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Most of the journals on this site
have a target audience of physicians and researchers. The amount of
information provided ranges from a basic table of contents through
full-text articles online.

- Medline
- The National Library of Medicine's
Medline database is the standard index to medical literature used by
physicians and medical researchers. Most of the journals indexed in
Medline are not held by the Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL);
however, a listing of journals held in area medical libraries can be
obtained at the reference desk. WRL patrons may request copies of the
articles indexed in Medline through our Interlibrary
Loan(ILL) service. Other users should contact their local public
library about Interlibrary Loans. Articles may also be ordered
online by using the NLM's Loansome
Doc service (registration required; some fees may apply).
